There is something on the market for just about any home or garden pest that you can think of. Here at Garden.com, one question that can be hard to answer is the one about repelling lizards. There are very few lizard repellents on the shelves. The species varies, depending on your location in our country, so you will have to experiment with it a little. The best way to start is with a taste repeller. Lizards love flowers. Hot Pepper Wax is a spray that will not harm the plants or the lizards. It just makes the flowers taste very bad. Not only will you protect your flowers from the lizards, but you will also be guarding against an array of garden insects. A stronger course of action is the Deer Guard (or Tree Guard). It was originally designed with deer in mind, but it works on any animal with a sense of taste. It uses bitrex, which is a severely pungent bitter taste that is very difficult to quell. Again, Deer Guard is harmless, but once they taste it, they won't be back. And, like the Hot Pepper Wax, you will protect your floral investment from lizards, and a host of other animals and insects.
