Mediterranean III Planter TerraCotta Finish
Authentic Reproduction in a Lightweight Material
Of Turkish origin, this style is one of a remarkable collection of antique vessels originally used for transporting wine, olive oil and molasses. Their provenance is confirmed by the government seals attached to them. Our reproductions are as true in detail as possible..
The iron stand supports this vessel which history reveals were heavy and often not able to stand on their own. Often, in the case of wine, they would be stored on their side. Recent discoveries of pot shards tell of ancient wine making as early as 3500 B.C. and DNA points to Turkey and Egypt as where the earliest wine making and the domestication of the Eurasian grapevine took place. These vessels are as authentic in design as possible.
