Living in Texas with a horse?!? I imagined the fight with the flies was on. I found the Big Bag Fly trap in the feed store along with other supplies but the Fly Trap was the smartest buy of them all. I don't have a problem with flies because of it

Awesome product. I have been using 3 plastic fly traps that I refill. I needed to add one near the barn and decided to try this disposal bag after reading the reviews. I could hardly believe that one bag trapped more flies than the 3 plastic traps combined.

My horses were getting so bit up and bloody, I would cry for them.
Other than body sprays, I didn't know what else I could do for them that would actually work, without using poisons or harsh chemicals on or around them.
I bought these 2 yrs ago to try. THEY REALLY WORK! (for adult flies).
I also use these bags ALONG WITH a 'Fly Eliminators' program (for destroying the larvae & hatching flies).
We have 2 horses and a 5 acre pasture, and a (neighbor's)herd of cattle just across the road.
I've tried other brands, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw that only after a week or so, the 3 bags I bought were LOADED FULL, and I had to get more! - the other brands I had, would only have a few if any caught. I hang one (about) every other T-post, and 1 extra around the largest poop 'area,' and NONE inside the barn or part of the field where your horses hang out most(the idea is that you want to attract flies to come OUT and stay out, of those areas).
Also, there's been a GREAT reduction in the fly population around the barn as a whole, thanks to the 'Rescue' bags.
And each year, the fly population declines even more.
I didn't even have to use a fly mask on my horse's face last year, or, this year (so far!)
As long as flies are attracted to these (smelly!) bags and not them, my horsies are HAPPY....
Happy horsies = HAPPY ME !

This is the best fly trap I've used so far, and it attracts a ton of flies! They then leave my horse and me alone. Much better then the refillable traps I was using, which are really gross to replace. The only thing is that my horse thinks these traps are going to eat him or something, cause whenever I replace them he gasps and snorts (hence 4 stars for pet approval) I think at the smell, which I don't blame him cause they do smell pretty bad. :P
Great Product

WE have been using these traps for many years (the smaller ones). We have never found anything else that does as good a job of reducing flies on our ranch as this product.

We've used these bags for a number of years. Really must be in the sun. Seems that the odor is at a max when they really start to get full (flys & maggots...sorry for the maggot part). We place them in locations to take advantage of the prevailing wind to minimize the smell where we sit outside.

These smelly traps work great for getting rid of flies. I have used them for about 4 years. These work the best of all I have tried. None of my horses bother them and if they are about 3 to 4 feet of the ground even my dogs leave them alone. They do smell but it is worth it to get rid of so many flies. Just wish there was one for the no-see-em nats.

The only fly product I will use! Wish they sold them by the case. They do smell bad but hey they work so well I really don't care. Rather have a little bad smell than flys tormenting my horses all summer!

First I purchased the small size bags as a 'test' to see if they really worked like everyone says... I was shocked at the carnage! Then I ordered the large bag size.
I never got used to the smell (think rotting meat) but was amazed how many flys crawled inside to die... they were literally lining up and fighting their way in.
One drawback is the rotting meat smell also attracted meat wasps which most likely wouldn't have been around otherwise. The wasps also found their way into the trap, but also bothered my horses as well. These bags attract so many flys I'm not sure if it's counter productive in that they attract more than would normally be around without them..??? I'm going to order more for next season, but do my own little test to see if they attract more flys than normal. I also use these bags along w/ feed thru fly control.

I am amazed at how well these work. The flies are crowding one on top of the other to get it. My son laughs at how I gleefully check my traps each day - chortling over the dead bodies. (It is kinda sick - but hey! we couldn't do anything with the horses during the day once the flies arrived).
I have tried other brands and they sit EMPTY while RESCUE traps are overflowing...

The flies have gotten worse and worse each year so I decided to try these traps. I was amazed at how well they work - almost TOO well! Where did all these flies come from?! The bags fill up quickly and it's kind of creepy disposing of them, but they are really effective. I'm ordering more; wish they had a "bulk" purchase price.

I have used these bags for about four years. I placed them around our dog kennel, and outside our pasture fence. I am amazed at the amount of flys these things attract and catch. Use them in direct sunlight. I tried placing one inside a building containg chickens without much success. For me, sunlight was key.

We have used this brand of fly bag for years and it works incredibly well. We watch with glee as the bag fills up and the flies wait outside for a chance to check in! Great way to collect adult flies. Our horses do not bother the bags at all. Only negative is taking them down. The lid should be able to lock in place. Our solution, is to put them in a bucket with a locking lid. Great product to use with any outdoor animals. Highly recommend.

Having used about 6-8 bags around the barn and pens last summer, the fly population is noticable less this summer. Also, some partially full bags survived the Winter where we left them hanging and after filling with water are working again this summer. I am buying more to keep flies at bay.

I have six horses which take up one row of corrals on a ranch of 40+ horses and 20 head of breeding cattle and bulls. I hung one between 5 & 6, then went down and hung one between 1 & 2. Went back and the first one hung had several flys already trapped and plenty more buzzing round waiting to get the e ride ticket inside. I purchased 6 of these and it looks like I'm going to have to buy a lot more as these appear to work very quickly and we have plenty of flys to collect. Along with the fly masks I am content that my horses will be very well protected this season.

These by far are the best fly traps! I've tried other brands and nothing compares to these. If your horse plays with the bag then move it to where they can't. I have a 'Dennis the Menace' horse and have at least 6 large bags hanging all summer and he never bothers them.

I was skeptical about the bags but with the cows and horses the flies were a problem and I was looking for anything that would work, so I ordered just one to give them a try. I was very pleased how well they worked, I had immediate results. I'd highly recommend them.

Great product, but too expensive with the rate of having to dispose of them! They need to be about 2.00 each so for those of us that have to hang out 10 or more at a time (corners of the barn, pastures, chicken coop, dog area) that we dont go broke by the end of the summer.
They last about 2 weeks before full.
Another suggestion I would like to make to the company other than lowering the price so more people can experience these, is to make the bottom of the bag a harder and tougher plastic.
As some of the other reviewers have stated, all it takes is a swipe of a raccoon paw and claw to put a hole in the bag and then it is useless. There goes your almost 3.50 down the drain with the stinky water solution.
Make these cheaper, make the bottom with a tougher plastic and I will be a lifelong customer as long as we have horses, dogs and chickens!
Thanks

Having a barn and 'flies' are expected. These fly traps are the BEST problem solover I have ever used....yes they smell....and yes they are not super stylish.....but YES they solve the problem. I was very impressed. I own a boarding barn and have 15 horses...so we do have to keep on top of fly control.

I have used these bags for years and years and just found out about 5 years ago that if you hang them way out on your fence (even in the sun) away from the barn, they still attract thousands of flys and keep the flys out of your barn. No smell close to where you or your horses live.

I have been using these for years and I can't talk them up enough. Of course the first year I hung one in my house.... Don't do that :) I ordered my second batch this year and hung them out today. They do smell a little over time but once you see how many flies you'll no longer have, it's worth it!

Purchased a few bags in early summer and they really attract and capture flies. In fact, this is our 3rd order for the bags!
It takes about 2 weeks to get them "ripe" where the flies will be attracted to them, so we start one just about 2 weeks before the previous one is tossed. They do get pretty gross, so we use a plastic store bag and carefully come under the hanging fly bag and then detach the fly bag and tie the garbage bag it up tight!
We put them in the barn first and they were slow to attract flies, so we moved them to the manure pile and were amazing at how they have reduced the flies in the barn and the pastures.
We did have one break in the barn (darn raccoon) and they DO stink, so make sure you put it in a place that is out of the reach of critters and if it did break, we used kitty litter to help absorb the odor.

This is the first product that is so easy to use and actually works - without having to handle any pesticides or liquid with the hands. Everything is already inside the bag. Within a few weeks the BIG BAG is full. They stink as all get out but the flies are lined up to get in.

We find the best results is to hang them around the perimeter of the barn so the flys are tempted out of the barn. We use all the corners. Yes they stink, but the flies love them and there are no noxious pesticides to harm the environment or anyone's lungs.

These are the best of any of the fly bags we have tried. Since they attract flies with a very bad smell, be sure to hang them away from your barn or house. Because of the smell be careful not to spill any of the liquid when you discard a full trap. We have found they work best in the shade so we hang ours in trees in the pasture.

The traps are ugly and stink, but they are the only ones that work REALLY well. I tried other brands and barely caught anything while having a bad fly problem. After a couple of weeks or less these traps are full and ready to be thrown out. When hanging in a sunny area, you may need to add extra water from time to time to prevent drying out.
